I am a certified yoga teacher and cultural anthropologist.
Movement, sport and supporting people in different situations have characterised my professional career for many years. Alongside my work as a yoga teacher, I am currently committed to inclusion in sport, which is why accessibility is particularly important to me regarding my yoga classes.

The combination of both fields of activity – yoga and cultural anthropology – helps me to recognise and to highlight the diversity of my students and to accompany them in their individual development.
It is important to me to meet my students where they are at the moment.

I am teaching regular classes at the Spa zur Sonne and City Yoga Studio in Graz.
Classes are open to all levels and will be held in English or German.

MY TEACHING

My yoga classes are characterised by different influences and teachers and see themselves as an individual interplay of the following components - movement, breathing, accessibility and a personal touch.

MOVEMENT

My yoga classes are based on the Forrest Yoga movement concept, founded by Ana T. Forrest, and address a wide range of problems and ailments in our performance-orientated society. Examples include a tight neck and tension in the jaw. Intelligently constructed positions succeed in building core stability and improving flexibility as well as questioning and rethinking old movement patterns. This has a positive effect on people's (physical) posture.

BREATH

In addition to a posture that is gentle on the joints and body, deep breathing is instructed and practised in every yoga class. Deep breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system as part of the autonomic nervous system, which is responsible for relaxation and recuperation (aspects that are often lacking in everyday life). This makes the body and its sensations more accessible. Possible tensions that are responsible for individual pain are detected in order to ensure pain-free movement in yoga classes. In short - deep breathing cultivates lightness, gentleness and clarity.

ACCESSIBILITY

Existing flexibility and mastery of fancy yoga poses are not a must in order to participate in my yoga classes. For each position and exercise there are options for different levels and needs, which is why people with little to no experience and/or injuries can participate. The aim is to promote self-efficacy by equipping students with the necessary tools and knowledge to shape their own yoga practice. In addition, the yoga classes are offered in German and English. In order to ensure a sustainable practice, please inform me in advance of any injuries and/or illnesses. Yoga does not replace any therapeutic measures from conventional medicine.

PERSONAL TOUCH

The human body is diverse, no two are the same. That's why it's important for me to get to know my students to facilitate my response to their individual needs in yoga classes. So-called hands-on assists, which are used in every yoga class, support this. Hands-on assists are an interplay of verbal instructions and physical touch that help to make the full effect and medicine of the respective posture more accessible (for the practitioner).
